Holiday Giving Initiatives
We were delighted to participate in and contribute towards the events and fundraisers of the entire Liberty Group of companies to assist various charities and those less fortunate during the holiday season.
The events included:
– Denim Day for the Foster Parents Association (FPA)
On Friday, December 3, 2021, the Company held a Denim Day to raise money for the Foster Parent Association. Our donation totalled $6,048.15 and was used to purchase gifts for foster children and provide BELCO gift vouchers for the families that house foster children.
– Food Drive for the Royal Bermuda Regiment (RBR)
Between Wednesday, December 1, 2021, and Friday, December 10, 2021, the Company held a food drive to contribute to the Royal Bermuda Regiment’s food drive, which was distributed to those in need. Employees donated 284 food items in total which included canned goods such as soup, vegetables, beans, tuna fish and more, along with other food and beverage Items like rice, pasta, juice, tea and more.
– Toy Drive for the Coalition for the Protection of Children (CPA)
Between Wednesday, December 1, 2021, and Friday, December 10, 2021, the Company held a toy drive to contribute to the Coalition for the Protection of Children’s annual ‘Toys for Tots’ programme. Employees donated several toys that included items like crayons, books, vehicle toys and more.
– Meals on Wheels Volunteering
On Thursday, December 16, 2021, employees donated their time to assist Meals on Wheels with packing their holiday gift bags for seniors from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Employees assisted in packaging 192 candy bags along with 164 gift bags.
– WindReach Volunteering
On Friday, December 17, 2021, employees donated their time to assist WindReach with beautifying their animal zone from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Employees assisted the organisation’s team with sanding, painting, and various other tasks.
Director of Communications and Sustainability Krista Barnes said: “The Liberty Group has always participated in various charitable activities for the holiday season and our team has always been extremely generous and committed to assisting the community. We are pleased to support several charities and initiatives this year that will help spread holiday cheer to those less fortunate. These activities are in keeping with our commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives that help improve our community. Our team also enjoys giving back and making a difference and I thank them for their selflessness and professionalism this holiday season.”
